Halloween DIY Decor Signs!
It's just a bunch of Hocus Pocus! |
Happy October Ghouls!
I don't know about y'all but this is my favorite time of the year! The holiday season sparks my creative flow, and I am so excited to share so many cute DIYs and more with y'all!
First up are these cute DIY Halloween signs! Not only are they budget friendly, they're SUPER easy to do with your littles! Lastly, most of these products come in packs of 3 or more, meaning multiple signs or extras for your next DIY!
Before I get into this blog, I HAVE to give creds to Miriam, the OG creator. She is super sweet and makes the cutest crafts with her girls! We did ours a tad bit different, and added our own spin to it! You can find or view Miriam's social links below:

These are the colors we used below. You can use any color(s) you'd like! Depending on the brand and size of paint you get, will determine the cost of your paint. The Apple Barrel brand was 2 fl. oz. and is from Walmart, costing $0.50 per color.
Wood Glue or Hot Glue Gun?
I recommend using wood glue personally, but each work the same. We got our wood glue from our local Dollar Tree!
Crafter's Square Woodwork Glue, 2 fl. oz. - $1.00
STEP 1:
Start by choosing what you want your sign to display. For mine I did Hocus Pocus. My kiddos chose BOO! Once you've chosen what you want your sign(s) to say, choose your color scheme or just choose whichever colors you'd like to paint with! For those wanting those aesthetic colors to match their homes or even your Instagram feed (it's okay, we all do this), Pinterest has TONS of color schemes to check out!
Additional ideas for wording:
HAPPY HALLOWEEN, SPOOKY SZN, OCTOBER, HAUNTED, HAUNT, TRICK - OR - TREAT, SPOOKTOBER, WELCOME WITCHES, HI WITCHES, MY GHOULS, GET SPOOKY, AMUCK AMUCK AMUCK, ALL HALLOWS EVE, BOO SHEET, EEK, etc.
STEP 2:
Paint your wooden circle(s) first. The circles are the biggest and will take the longest too dry.
STEP 3:
While your circle is drying, paint your letters! Don't forget to paint the inner cutouts of the letters as well as the outside shapes of the letters.
STEP 4:
Paint your stars! You can add however many stars you'd like! TIP: If you're painting with glow in the dark paint, it is very thick, or at least ours was. It will apply like glue, and will need 2 coats. The glow in the dark paint also takes a tad bit longer to dry.
STEP 5:
Once everything has dried place your lettering and star shapes onto your wooden circle(s) to get the layout or look you're going for. Next, pick up each letter or shape one by one to add wood glue to the backs. You don't have to use a lot, just a tiny bit will do!
STEP 6:
Once you've applied your glue and placed your lettering and shapes, set your artwork aside to dry over night.
TIPS:
You can add picture hangers to the backs of the circle cutouts if desired. If you plan to set your artwork on a shelf for display, leaning will do, without having to add backing or hangers.
While shopping from Hobby Lobby, don't forget to use the weekly 40% off code! Every other week they also rotate departments that are marked down by 50%. If shopping for crafting supplies be sure to check into that as well. If you're ordering online, you will have shipping costs (not too expensive), and shipping is quick! If you're not able to shop from Hobby Lobby, you could try Michael's, Target, or even Walmart for your supplies.
Don't be afraid to try different font lettering, shapes, wood cut-outs, etc. Don't have high expectations of making the perfect art piece, just have fun with it! You will mess up, they'll mess up, just trust the process. I had to redo a few of my letters, in all honesty! My kiddos and I absolutely loved spending time together making these super cute Halloween crafts. Each of theirs has a touch of their own unique personalities and we love them!
If you make these, using the links I provided above, please share & tag me on Instagram so I can re-share! I cannot wait to see what you create!
P.S. - I'll be teaming up with a few friends later this month for an October/Halloween G I F T A W A Y which will include 1-2 of these signs, along with a few other small DIYs! You won't want to miss it! Lots of super cute Halloween goodies to give away! This will be shared via Instagram, so stay tuned!
